Long lost Destiny 2 raid Exotic stealing the show this week—all thanks to a bug

The laser beam of death is actually good this week.

Veteran Destiny 2 players are dusting off their One Thousand Voices after it was discovered this week’s powerful modifier, which is supposed to only affect swords, is unintentionally working with the Last Wish Exotic as well—and it’s beyond busted.

Players quickly discovered after the Sept. 3 reset the main modifier for activities this week, Blessing of Blades, isn’t just limited to swords. Blessing of Blades sees all swords passively regenerate ammo after a short delay and is active right up until next week’s reset on Sept. 10. The buff is even active in Grandmaster Nightfalls and the Crucible, so naturally, many rushed to grab their best swords and equip them this week.

That was until players noticed the buff was also working with One Thousand Voices. The exotic fusion rifle, which first arrived way back with Forsaken in 2018, fires a beam that explodes and deals significant damage. The weapon, however, comes with a drawback—it chews through its small ammo reserves in no time at all. After a half-dozen shots, it’s empty, thus making it inefficient for most damage phases in Destiny 2.

So what happens when that downside no longer exists? That’s what players are discovering this week with many immediately equipping One Thousand Voices and running the toughest content in the game. The result—it trivializes the toughest activities. “You are kidding me that [One Thousand Voices] is coded as a sword, that’s incredible,” one player said, while others were spamming Last Wish runs in the hope the exotic drops for them since they haven’t gotten lucky yet.

Bungie acknowledged the bug in a short statement on X/Twitter today but they’re letting the community have its fun for the week, adding it might be a little too strong in Gambit and could be banned in the game mode if things spiral too far out of control.

Until then, load up a GM Nightfall, equip a One Thousand Voices (which on its own was recently buffed anyway), and explode your way through the Destiny 2 mission with ease—just don’t accidentally use the beam on yourself if you can help it.
