Now you’ve got your ship in Star Wars Outlaws, it’s time to take it for a spin during the False Flag mission. This is one of the more challenging missions you can do early in the story as a required stealth section can be tricky.

The False Flag mission’s a chance to show how good you are taking on the Galactic Empire, the galaxy’s military force. After delivering a spice shipment, you must track down a data vault inside the station and delete files. Locating the data vault can take some time in Star Wars Outlaws, but avoiding all the Imperials is even more challenging.

The False Flag mission begins shortly after you receive a blaster upgrade, and you can speak with Waka. This becomes available shortly after you can redeem your preorder bonuses. You’ll be approached by Eleera from Crimson Dawn, who has a job for you—she’s asking you to grab the spice shipment that they knocked out from reaching the Imperials and then deliver it to Fuel Station Visavi.

The first part of this mission is relatively straightforward; it’s a tutorial for using the Trailblazer and explaining how space combat works in Star Wars Outlaws.

How to find the data vault in Star Wars Outlaws

The complicated bit happens when you land at the station. From here, you must stick to the shadows and go to the data vault while Waka distracts the Imperials. You need to sneak off the ship from the cargo hold and go through a small opening that brings you outside.

Tip:

During this stealth mission in Star Wars Outlaws, Imperials can see you, but they cannot raise the alarms. If they do, the mission is over. You want to avoid all cameras.

Wait until the Imperials are on the boat, and then you can make your way around the guards protecting the entrance of the Trailblazer. Follow the small maze, which should bring you to the front. You can then interact with a lift loader to cover you as you make your way across the open hanger to the other side.

Be careful of getting too close to this loader because the repulsor can push you out, revealing Kay’s positions to the Imperials in this Star Wars Outlaws mission.

When you’re in the next area, find the vents to the right and proceed through them. Follow the path to a maintenance area with a turbolift, and a hallway with two Imperial officers walking out from a door. Head in the door and knock out the officers to access the terminal. This updates your journal to show you where to find the data vault.

Follow the indicator to the next hallway, where multiple Imperial Stormtroopers are on guard. You won’t be able to bypass them; knock them out. You’ll need to use Nix to assist you during this portion before you can continue.

The next maintenance area is tougher. Three Imperial troopers are patrolling this hallway, with two stuck together. Knock out the one with the heavy gun first, then dispatch the other two using Nix to distract them. You can try using your melee or use your stun shot if it’s available. Alternatively, you can go through a maintenance hallway to your left with an Imperial trooper and a worker inside. Follow this path to override the security cameras and a barrier shield in this area for additional loot.

Now, this next area might be the toughest. You can use the elevator to make your way down to the main area, or you can stick to the higher ramps. The risk with the ramps is an Imperial Probe Droid is guarding it, but it’s only the one. If you make your way to the ground floor, there are multiple patrolling Imperial troopers and officers, and you have to duck and weave through the TIE fighters and container boxes to avoid them.

However, there’s more loot to find and scoop up on the ground. Both are good routes and get you to your goal. The ground floor is easier to get caught, though.

When you reach the end, you’ll enter a cutscene where you must choose whether to side with Crimson Dawn or the Pykes with Bosnok, your new friend. This does influence the Star Wars Outlaws reputation system. Choosing who you want to side with is yours, but the result only increases your relationship with that side.

The next part of the False Flag quest focuses on you helping Bosnok to escape. From here, the rest of the mission should be relatively straightforward—but you still need to avoid raising the alarm as you play through. You’ll want to carefully move with Bosnok as you make your way back to the Trailblazer in Star Wars Outlaws.
