Here’s everything you need to know about the Ancient One’s Trial event in Once Human to earn the maximum number of rewards.

How to start and complete the Ancient One’s Trial in Once Human

To start the Ancient One’s Trial in Once Human, you have to embrace the heights of the mountains of the Chalk Peak region. You can open your map and press X to reveal all the public crisis events that are currently happening. In the Chalk Peak region, you need to find the highest mountain roughly at (coordinates: 2329,-5204), then take the nearby teleporter.

Once you arrive at the teleporter, climb the mountain from the eastern side. After traveling to the center of the hill, you have to make your way over to the west side of the mountain and find grey-colored rocks to climb and find your way to the top. Usually, you should find many whispers in the area telling you to start your climb to the top of the mountain. You have to leave your motorcycle here and walk to the top. Once you’re at the top, go straight toward the northern cliff, where you will find a destroyed airship also known as the Ancient One.

Go close to the airship and climb its body using any airstreams on the ground. After you reach the top, you should spot a red glowing orb where you can start the challenge. The challenge gives you levitating balloons to aim at for the first few seconds, and then the Ancient One takes off. You have to shoot down the balloons to get the maximum score.

You can also do the challenge with your friends, making it less demanding, but possibly more fun if you’re not down for the challenge yourself. There are four types of color-coded balloons. Yellow balloons give you 20 points, red give you 10 points, and blue balloons give you five points each. There are also black balloons, which don’t give you any points but produce an AoE explosion, helping you burst more balloons quickly and raise your scores.

To consistently get high rewards, prioritize shooting the black and yellow balloons, followed by red and blue. Your choice of weapon plays an important role here, so we’d recommend using the SCAR or LMG, as they have the necessary fire rate to take down the balloons efficiently. You can also make it easier by adopting Bounce and Unstable Bomber builds on your weapons and armor, allowing you to spread your firepower and hit multiple balloons.

As you’ll be on top of a moving plane flying past the balloons, make sure to account for bullet drop and understand your spray patterns. The balloons also self-burst after a certain amount of time, so make sure to burst them quickly or you won’t be able to get all the rewards.
