Having more than one Multi-Tool in No Man’s Sky can be beneficial if you want to spec out one for resource extraction and the other for fighting, as some Multi-Tools might not have enough slots to accommodate both.

This also means you have to be able to quickly swap between Multi-Tools in case something happens. Here’s how to switch Multi-Tools in No Man’s Sky.

You can switch between owned Multi-Tools using the Utilities menu once you buy a second Multi-Tool from a space station or an outpost. Make sure you are on the ground and not in the ship when switching. Otherwise, the menu options will be different.

To switch Multi-Tools in No Man’s Sky, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Menu (X key on PC by default).
  2. Head to Utilities (gear icon).
  3. Select Swamp Multi-Tool and choose the preferred Multi-Tool.

If you have too many Multi-Tools, you can destroy them at the Multi-Tool Decommissioning station aboard the Anomaly. The station is on the far left side of the Anomaly. You can either follow the path to the giant teleporter and turn left or use a teleportation platform in the hangar.

It works the same way as the ship management terminals aboard regular space stations. Equip the Multi-Tool you wish to decommission, interact with the terminal, and confirm the deletion. In return, you’ll get some scrap and upgrades you can sell or use for another Multi-Tool.
