Loadouts are back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode, as are classic round-based maps instead of an open world to explore like in Modern Warfare Zombies.
Every loadout in BO6 Zombies consists of the usual stuff like curated guns and equipment. But one of the major additions in recent CoD games has been Field Upgrades, and there’s a new one in BO6 that sounds like it will be a lot of fun to use.
Here’s everything we know about the new Zombies Field Upgrade in Black Ops 6, Dark Flare.
What is Dark Flare in Black Ops 6 Zombies?
Dark Flare is a new Zombies-exclusive Field Upgrade in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 that uses the game’s newest damage element, Shadow. Dark Flare’s description is as follows: “You generate a massive energy beam that deals lethal shadow damage. The beam penetrates everything in its path.“
The image above illustrates Dark Flare in action, mowing down a horde of zombies. And in case you forgot, here are the other four Field Upgrades from previous CoD Zombies experiences, all in BO6 at launch:
- Aether Shroud: Phase into the Dark Aether, becoming hidden from enemy detection.
- Frenzied Guard: Repair armor and force all enemies in the area to target you. During this time, kills repair a portion of your armor.
- Healing Aura: Summons beams of energy down on yourself and allies to instantly revive and heal to full health.
- Energy Mine: Create a mine of pure energy that detonates in rapid succession, dealing lethal electric damage.
All Dark Flare Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Dark Flare can be improved by something called Augments, a new feature built for BO6 Zombies. As you use the Field Upgrade and get kills with it, you can learn more about it, research it, and unlock new Augments. For more on Augments, check out our BO6 Zombies Augments guide.
In total, there are three Minor and three Major Augments for Dark Flare. Here’s what’s been revealed so far:
Dark Flare Minor Augments
- Heavy Shadow: Zombies impacted by the beam are slowed.
Dark Flare Major Augments
- Shadow Ball: The beam is replaced with a sphere that damages enemies as it travels and detonates at the end of the duration.
