Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a handful of weeks away from release, and the game’s first-look gameplay video released today inspires some hope in what actually looks like it could be a fun little title set in the Wizarding World.

The gameplay features a third-person perspective as players fly around the Quidditch pitch on their brooms, chasing down the quaffle and the Golden Snitch while tackling opponents on the other squad.

The trailer highlights a single-player career mode where players will “compete for various championships” while playing in different locations set throughout the Harry Potter universe, along with an online competitive mode for players to team up in and face others.

Players can also choose to play as famous characters such as Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley, and others. You can also create your own player using a custom character creator that has a number of customization options to choose from, including different clothing items and gear, along with basics like hair and faces.

At a base price of $30, Quidditch Champions has a solid chance to catch on quickly with Potter fans, just as last year’s Hogwarts Legacy game did as one of the most popular titles of 2023. The $40 deluxe edition also includes special skins and items for Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw, along with 2,000 gold in-game currency.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions launches on Sept. 3 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, where it will be available until Sept. 30 as one of the free PlayStation Plus games for the month. It will launch later for the Nintendo Switch in the holiday 2024 period.
