Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold nearly 14 million copies worldwide

It's the third best-selling Nintendo Switch game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold 13.81 million copies since its release last December, Nintendo revealed in its yearly financial report. This makes Smash Ultimate the third best-selling Switch game ever released.

The numbers include digital, retail, and bundle sales with hardware, which just goes to show how many games Nintendo has been able to sell for its flagship fighter in such a short amount of time.

For comparison, the top 10 games in the Switch’s library include the following titles:

1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 16.69 million

2) Super Mario Odyssey: 14.44 million

3) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 13.81 million

4) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 12.77 million

5) Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!: 10.63 million

6) Splatoon 2: 8.70 million

7) Super Mario Party: 6.40 million

8) New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: 3.31 million

9) 1-2-Switch: 2.97 million

10) Mario Tennis Aces: 2.64 million

The sales of Ultimate should come as no surprise, though. The title recently became the best-selling physical Switch game in Japan at the end of March. Ultimate also helped physical game sales increase by 90 percent in 2018 in the U.K. after being available for just one month.

This also follows Nintendo’s announcement that the Switch has outsold the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 64—the company has sold over 34 million consoles worldwide since its release in 2017.
