Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has shown X-rays of his left elbow after the two surgeries he had due to his scooter accident a few weeks ago.
One of the X-ray images he showed during a livestream yesterday lets fans see what was put in his elbow. It appears to be a flexible metal plate with a curve that fits the elbow bone, and it’s fixed deep inside shroud’s arm bones by about nine pins. The X-ray also shows that he has around 21 post-surgery stitches. The second X-ray shows the fracture from a different angle, and it becomes clear that the metal piece is connected to parts of shroud’s arm bones.
A Twitch viewer apparently understood from the X-rays that his fracture was a “proximal radius/ulna fracture along with olecranon process,” to which shroud said he thinks that’s exactly what happened.
The surgery that put in this metal plate, which was his second, was probably also his last. Shroud’s fracture is healing well, and his surgeon said he might not need the third surgery that was brought up soon after his first surgery.
Shroud is recovering from a scooter accident he had in early March, when he flew over the handles after braking too suddenly. He said he intentionally fell on his left arm to avoid injuring his right arm, which is the one he moves the most when playing and streaming. His recovery has since been better than expected—he’s returned home and resumed streaming sooner than anticipated after the two surgeries he underwent.
It’s still unclear how long shroud will have to wear a cast on his left arm for, though.
