Immortals AWPer Vito “kNg” Giuseppe will be returning to his home country Brazil for an extended period of time.
The 22-year-old AWPer will be applying for a new P-1 visa in Brazil, the visa that allows him to be based in the U.S. This means kNg will not be competing with the team in the ELEAGUE Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Premier group stage on Sept. 15.
Filling the spot of kNg will be Raphael “cogu” Camargo, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in Counter-Strike 1.6 history. The 32-year-old was part of the first Brazilian team to win an international LAN event, as cogu’s Made in Brazil won the 2006 Esports World Championship in Paris.
The team will be competing in Group B of the ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier, where the team will be pitted against mousesports, Fnatic, as well as DreamHack Montreal champions North.
The news of his spell away from the team comes just days after kNg ignited controversy at DreamHack Montreal.
Immortals, who competed against North in the DreamHack Open Montreal grand finals on Oct. 10, forfeited the first map of the series due to the majority of the team not showing up in time.
KNg proceeded to issue a death threat to CLG in-game leader Pujan “FNS” Mehta, who had joked about Immortals’ tardiness on Twitter. The AWPer has remained indignant about his actions, and has also claimed that he won’t be apologizing to FNS.
In the wake of the scandal, Immortals CEO Noah Whinston claimed that the incident would be investigated and that action would be taken if deemed necessary.
