G2 Esports are no longer undefeated in the 2019 LEC Spring Split.
Origen took down the titans of European League of Legends today, handing them their first loss of the season.
Origen’s Erlend “Nukeduck” VÃ¥tevik Holm locked in Zed against G2’s mid lane superstar Rasmus “Caps” Winther—and it worked as well as Origen fans hoped it would. Just over six minutes into the game, Nukeduck secured first blood on Caps’ Cassiopeia.
G2 were able to stabilize the map by applying pressure in the top lane, where Martin “Wunder” Hansen was playing well. But that meant they didn’t have resources in the bot lane, and Origen’s bot lane was able to take advantage.
Origen support Alfonso “Mithy” Rodriguez, who played for G2 from 2016 to 2017, made some nice plays against his old teammates. These plays, combined with Nukeduck’s pressure in the mid lane and jungle, resulted in the map being in Origen’s favor.
Origen really started to take full control of the game, though, around the 23-minute mark. Origen picked up two quick kills and immediately turned toward Baron—and after securing the buff, Origen were able to build on their slight gold lead.
A second Baron around the 31-minute mark allowed Origen to push their advantage straight into G2’s base. Nukeduck ended the game with a 5/1/4 scoreline, while Origen jungler Jonas “Kold” Andersen went 5/1/2 and ADC Patrik JÃrů went 5/0/5.
Although G2 drop to 9-1 in the 2019 LEC Spring Split, they still sit atop the league standings. Origen, on the other hand, now improve to 6-4 with today’s victory.
