Baldur’s Gate 3 has so many different character story arcs that can twist and turn any number of different ways that it’ll make your head spin trying to keep up with all of them, and one in particular appears to be confusing some players.
The story of Dame Aylin, also referred to as “the Nightsong,” has a captivating and intriguing beginning with a somewhat confounding and unsatisfying ending for some players, depending on what choices you make in Act Two and Act Three. Before we move any further, here’s your final spoiler warning.
In a post to Reddit, one player questioned exactly what’s going on with the conclusion to Dame Aylin’s story in Act Three. Assuming that you spare the Nightsong and add her to your camp in Act Two, you can use her to face the sorcerer Lorroakan, who appears to be hunting Dame Aylin in an attempt to trap her as a means to gain immortality.
Once you kill Lorroakan, Dame Aylin will continue to show her vengeful side, but that’s about all you get to see before she leaves your camp. As the original poster in the Reddit thread points out, the story of Dame Aylin seems “very incomplete.”
This immortal moon maiden that many people seem to want to trap for their own benefit just gets very spitefully angry at her enemies, and once she’s destroyed them, you still don’t really get a sense of closure as she continues to express angry energy toward those she’s already defeated.
Other players were quick to point out that Dame Aylin’s story arc is one of the few “happy” endings in the game. Instead of being used as a power source for immortality by Balthazar or Lorroakan, she is free to be with her love Isobel.
However, the rage she shows despite avoiding the torment clearly shows that Dame Aylin has a lot to unpack in therapy after her years of imprisonment at the hands of Shar.
