Staying alive is absolutely paramount in the battle royale genre—and while Apex does have an interesting respawn mechanic, it’s much more beneficial to just not die in the first place. While this can be easier said than done, Apex does have a hidden method that will make you more efficient at staying on your feet.

Since Apex has no natural regeneration like energy shields in Halo, players will have to take a break from shooting in order to utilize health supplies. This comes in the form of Med Kits, Syringes, Shield Batteries, and the all-mighty Phoenix Kit.

Unfortunately for players on the run, using these supplies will slow your movement speed significantly. Thankfully, Reddit user and Apex player PonyOfMacaroni has demonstrated a technique that significantly increases your move speed while healing.

When running in Apex, players can slide and carry forward with the momentum generated by their run. In order to perform the technique, players will need to build up speed by running and quickly transitioning into a slide. During the slide, players should begin healing and then attempt to jump every time they hit the ground.

If done correctly, this bunny-hop technique will allow players to keep the momentum from their slide while they continue to heal. This significantly increases move speed during the healing process, and can be the difference in life or death during a quick getaway.

Try practicing this technique when you’re running away in fear after your teammates have already been eliminated. With enough practice, you’ll be hopping your way back to full health and to the winners’ circle in no time.
